Comfort zones

I had lunch with a friend today and we were talking about life. We talked about how life just seems to take us down a path and we get into a routine that brings success after success, promotion after promotion, change after change.

The picture of a super cushiony and comfy chair came to mind. It feels oh so familiar and comfortable that you just stay in it. It’s dependable and warm and fits you to a ‘T’. This chair is your world. Until one day you realize that your entire life has passed you by and you were so comfortable in your chair that you never paused to consider ‘is this really the life I wanted?’, ‘is this the life I dreamed about?’.

Perhaps you did, and like me, you were too fearful to make a change. Or perhaps you did, and you are living the life you wanted…good for you!
Today, I was reminded that I really, really need to get out of my comfort zone. I really, really need to get comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable…because that’s where great things happen.
